Yesterday, I got way too into looking at Neocities sites. The idea of this journal is that it's supposed to be something I can do just by dictating to save my hands, so you can imagine that clicking through a bunch of super cool, very decorated HTML websites wasn't a great substitute. Still, people make really beautiful sites, very artsy. I'll share just One with you here (audio warning), because I shouldn't be doing more. I also learned what a webring is after seeing the term around for a while. There will be a webring with a specific topic and people can apply to join it. Once you're in, you put their little button with forward and back arrows somewhere on your website, and the forward arrow goes to the next website in the ring. I started making my own homepage (again), but of course, that isn't wise, so it'll have to wait.

You can probably see the little “hello” button I did end up adding to my journal. It's true that this journal is for me, but I'm also very fascinated with what you can do with a website. If you happen to read an entry, you can click it to say that you read it, and the number will go up. You can also click it again to undo it. That's all there is to it. I'm not really the type to check website views, but this way if anyone comes across an entry, you can say you were here. I think that kind of thing is neat.

Speaking of the past, my cousin and I started watching My Little Pony G4 again, starting at the beginning. I hadn't realized, but they’d barely seen any of it, despite us being close in age, whereas I've seen all of it. The first season(s?) had such a charm that I think was lost in the later seasons. I think it's like Animal Crossing, where later on the characters kind of felt flattened out. For that reason, it's been nice to watch the early episodes again after all this time. I like Rainbow Dash.

It looks like someone else is also revisiting G4, and it’s Hasbro. My prediction for G6 is that because they're trying to copy what was previously successful, they won't be able to make another G4, because what made G4 special was its originality, that it followed an artistic vision. The most marketable ponies being the ones they kept doesn't bode well for sticking to an artistic vision. I would love to be proven wrong though. I said it for G5, fewer characters could make for better writing. At the same time, considering it'll be a YouTube series produced by the same company that did Tell Your Tale, I'm not sure. Nothing wrong with Tell Your Tale! I just don't think it was groundbreaking. I guess we'll see, also next year.
